About the role

Do you have experience working in Children’s social care, fostering or a similar setting?

We have a 12 month fixed term opportunity (until 6th May 2026) in our Commissioning and Brokerage Team, where you will be responsible for sourcing and negotiation of all placements children in care and care leavers. This would also be a great secondment opportunity for any internal applicants from NCT.

As a Placement Brokerage Officer, you will locate and secure appropriate placements for individuals in need, often those with disabilities or vulnerable individuals, by working with providers and social workers. This involves liaising with various stakeholders to ensure placements are tailored to individual needs and comply with regulations.

What will you be doing?

 

You will be required to undertake all tasks in relation to the brokerage of placements for Northamptonshire Children's Trust - handling all referrals for children requiring a placement and or placement related supports and identifying the best match available to them taking into consideration the child’s needs and making the best use of resources available.

You will work closely with social workers and case managers to understand individual needs and ensure placements are appropriate and meet requirements. 

You will maintain accurate records of placement activity, including referral details, provider information, and placement outcomes. 

You will monitor the quality and effectiveness of placements, addressing any issues promptly and ensuring ongoing support is provided. 

You will prepare reports and briefing notes on placement activities for management teams and stakeholders. 

You will ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations regarding placement procedures and service quality.

You will work 8 days a month on a duty rota.

About you

 

An excellent communicator, you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work with various stakeholders

You will have a good eye for detail when quality assuring referrals and the ability to professionally challenge.  This is a fast paced and energetic environment that requires you to communicate effectively.

Being able to confidently negotiate contracts and agreements with providers, ensuring fair and effective services is essential.

You will be able to manage complex caseloads and maintain accurate records.

You will have an understanding of regulations and guidelines related to placement and care services.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Barred List check
