Senior Administrator - Youth Justice Service

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the successful, multi-agency Northamptonshire Youth Justice Service (YJS), aiming to reduce reoffending by working with young people, their families and victims.

To provide cover for the Business Support Manager in their absence.

Hours are full time 09:00-17:30pm/09:00-17:00 on a Friday. You will be based out of our Northampton office but required to work out of the Kettering office each Wednesday. We would consider some working from home on a rota, once your induction/training is complete. We are looking for someone who can be flexible to meet the needs of the business.

What will you be doing?

Based at our Northampton and Kettering offices you will providing resilient admin support to senior managers whilst co-ordinating activities of the NYJS Business Support Team, including monitoring and allocating work and taking responsibility for the completion of scheduled work. Often the first point of contact for young people, their families, practitioners and professional staff, whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times. Previous experience of working in a customer led environment and flexibility to take on a variety of tasks, including note-taking and being able to communicate effectively. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated team player to join us, who is dynamic and solution-focused in business support for operational services whilst supervising a small team of administrators, delivering an effective induction programme for new team members, developing, coaching and assisting the team to ensure SMART outcomes are met.

About you

  • You will be self-motivated, organised who delivers professional support for Practitioners and the Management Team. Accuracy, attention to detail and use of initiative is required when raising and processing invoices, minuting meetings, correspondence and diary management.  
  • You must have a confident working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft packages (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet), experience of using computerised systems although training will be given.  
  • You are able to prioritise workloads, whilst achieving deadlines, in a highly performing and changing environment.  An understanding of confidentiality and data protection is imperative.   You can demonstrate an ability to learn quickly and make a positive contribution to our team. 
  • You will need to be child focused and able to manage a high volume of sensitive information.
  • Supervising a team including the ability to manage the quality and productivity of the team is desirable.
  • You will support the manager in maintaining the building, systems, equipment and health and safety to ensure the welfare of all staff, young people and visitors.  

A short 10-minute presentation will form part of the interview process for this role, details will be forwarded prior to the interviews.
