About the role

Are you looking for a varied, challenging and rewarding position where you can help young people?

Welford House cares for vulnerable adolescents (up to 18 years), often with challenging behaviour.

You will be responsible for leading shifts and making practical day to day decisions in order to meet the needs of up to seven challenging children living within a residential Children’s home. You will be required to make clear decisions under pressure. You must have experience of working in a residential environment and have excellent negotiation skills.

All members of the team work on a rota basis, which includes evenings and weekends.  Enhancements (for unsociable hours), sleeping-in and stand-by payments substantially increase the earnings for this post, in addition to the basic salary.

The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS clearance. 

About you

We are looking for someone who can understand the needs of the children, whilst remaining firm and working within set boundaries.  Our aim is to encourage the children to become independent adults with the necessary skills to look after themselves when living in the community.

You will need to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, patient and flexible. You will find it easy to establish and build positive relationships with Young People.

You will need to be a good communicator and team player, adaptable and professional in your outlook.  The role requires the applicant to be active with a certain level of fitness in order to participate in activities, as necessary.

Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence, as you will be accompanying our Young People to appointments or activities.
