About the role

Northamptonshire Youth Offending Service (NYOS) is a highly successful statutory partnership which is required to reduce the offending of children and young people; reduce incidents of harm to potential victims; repair existing harm where possible and safeguard the welfare of the children and young people with whom we work. You must be able to identify and act upon risks, and do so swiftly when required.

We are recruiting a Reparation Supervisor to be part of our development within the Interventions Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly effective service. We are looking for creative, persistent and highly motivated people to work across the county with young people and their families, to address the issues that have brought them to the attention of the criminal justice system.

What will you be doing?

NYOS is committed to working with Restorative Approaches and you will be expected to use these approaches/ principles throughout your work for which training will be provided to underpin these values.

Working in the community, you will see clients both in our offices and in various community settings, including their own homes. Whatever the environment, you will be skilled at building and supporting professional relationships promptly to maximise the impact of your work.

 

About you

You will need to display a good level of understanding of the difficulties young people face. Have an ability to engage young people positively, assess and deliver tailored interventions covering a wide range of issues to potentially resistant young people and their parents or carers is essential to this role.

You will work in partnership with colleagues inside and outside the YOS and be expected to offer a range of approaches to your work, which are responsive to the needs of the individuals. The YOS client group can live chaotic lifestyles and your persistence and determination will be important along with your ability to engage, and re-engage with those who need you most.

Educated to GCSE standard, you will have some experience of working with difficult to engage children and young people. You will be able to display a good level of understanding of the difficulties young people face, in order to meet their needs and inspire them.
